You’re A Community. Now Act Like One.

Y

You are a community.

Within this community, you’ll find a foolish version of yourself from 10 years ago, and a slightly wiser version of yourself from 5 years ago.

You know these selves well.

Many people spend a lot of time thinking about how their community would be a better place if they could change the actions taken by these selves.

But their actions can’t be changed, it’s outside of your control.

Forgive and learn from their mistakes, and share their stories with a smile. If you can’t change them, you might as well learn to love them.

And who knows? Maybe these past selves will one day become your best allies.

Within this community, you’ll also find a future version of yourself 10 years from now, and a future version of yourself 20 years from now.

You don’t know these selves all that much. Heck, you don’t even know if they’re still alive!

Many people spend a lot of time worrying about their fate. But the fate of your future selves is ultimately in your hands, so there’s no need to worry – at all.

Try to understand what their needs are and help them become a better version of yourself.

Of course, you won’t succeed every day in taking good care of your future selves and that is fine. You’ll be forgiven, after all. Just like you forgave your past selves!

Last, but not least, you’ll find the present you within the center of it all.

Most people spend so much time thinking about how they could change the actions of their past selves, most people spend so much time worrying about the fate of their future selves, the present self is forgotten and barely taken care of.

What a foolish way of living!

After all, the present self is the only self that’s under your control, the only self who’s actions can make a change for the betterment of the entire community.

So roll up your sleeves and get to work.

What can you do today to make your past self your ally? What small step can you take today to make your future self proud of your achievements?

Your community is counting on you.

You can either be their benevolent King or their Tyrant.

Choose wisely.
