As soon as this stops being the case, or when there’s a more effective alternative available, you risk being cut out.
It’s not personal, it’s business – they’ll say.
But if it’s just business, why then should you give so much of yourself? Loyalty needs to be a two-way street, and in business it’s seldom the case. Corporations generally are loyal to their stakeholders, not to their employees.
This is why it would be foolish to give your whole heart and soul to build someone else’s kingdom without having a stab at building your own.
When you get kicked off the plane, you’ll need a backup plan… and the harsh reality is that your employer won’t be handing out parachutes.
