Professional sport events condition us to believe that we’re not winning, unless the other loses.

People love to compare themselves to others. People love to have a peek into someone else’s life, just to see how they measure up. And quite frankly, with everybody showing off the highlights of their lives on social media… it can be hard not to.

But life is not a zero-sum game, it’s not a sport event. Others don’t have to lose, for you to win. And your win is not worth less, just because someone else won bigger.

Life is not a competition. Life shouldn’t be about you against the world, it should be about you against you.

Focus on breaking your personal best, not someone else’s. Celebrate growth, not how you’re doing compared to everyone else.

You’ll be a lot happier for it.
