When someone has the courage to open up to you about their problems, don’t see this an opportunity to share your problems… or worse, someone else’s problems.
Misery isn’t a competition. It’s not a bidding war.
Just because someone else has problems that are far more troubling, doesn’t mean people can’t feel sad about theirs.
The only answer to someone sharing their problems, is to sit in the mud with them.
Empathize, validate, and show them you’re there for them.
